Odisha’s first football referee passes away at 100

Odisha’s first ever football referee and the oldest citizen of the district headquarters town of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj today breathed his last.

The centenarian Narottam Mohanty passed away this morning following a cardiac arrest.

A pall of gloom descended on the town after the news spread. Many eminent persons visited his residence at KMBM road to pay their last respect to the departed soul.

Sports Minister Sudam Marandi expressed his deep condolences over the demise of the first qualified football referee of the state in pre-independence era.
