Odisha’s first Vande Metro to run on this route; know more

Bhubaneswar: The Railway authorities will run Vande Metro train, the shorter-distance version of Vande Bharat Express, in Odisha.

The Vande Metro train will run on Haridaspur-Paradip route, said Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today.

“The Haridaspur-Paradip railway line will be doubled. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched passenger train service on the route a few months ago. The train service has hugely benefitted the people of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Jajpur. Once the line is doubled, the Railway will run Vande Metro on the route,” Vaishnaw told a news agency.

The Railway Minister revealed that the proposed Jajpur-Dhamra railway line will be taken up soon. The railway line will pass through Jajpur town, Aradi and Chandabali, he said.

“The DPR for the Rs 2,552 crore railway project is being prepared now,” added the Railway Minister.

Notably, the Vande Metro trains are tailored to cater to urban commuters travelling distances up to 250 km.
