Odisha’s Hirakud dam opens five more gates

Sambalpur: Following incessant rainfall in the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi river, five sluice gates of Hirakud dam in Odisha’s Sambalpur district were opened, today.

Water level at the dam was at 630 ft (steady) against the full reservoir level of 630 ft at 9 am, official sources said. The dam authorities had yesterday opened one gate at 9 pm to release excess water.

As per latest information, water inflow and outflow at the dam was 1,20,125 cusecs.
