Odisha’s Hirakud reservoir water level crosses 600 feet mark

The water level at Hirakud reservoir at Burla in Odisha’s Sambalpur district has crossed the 600 feet mark following incessant rainfall in upper catchment of river Mahanadi.

According to the dam authorities, water level at the reservoir stood at 600.32 feet by 6 PM on Monday.

While 56,278 cusecs of water were entering the reservoir, 21,269 cusecs of water were being released.

Of this, 4157 cusecs of water were being released for irrigation.

Sources in the dam control room said there was 32.45 mm rainfall in the upper catchment and 50.29 mm in the lower catchment of the river in the last 24 hours.
