Odisha’s Kishore Jena bags Silver at Asian Games

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Kishore Jena has bagged silver medal in javelin throw event at Asian Games at Hangzhou in China.

India’s Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in the event.

With this achievement, Jena qualified for Paris Olympics, sources said.

Neeraj clinched the gold with his throw of 88.88 m while Jena claimed silver with his personal best attempt of 87.54 m, sources added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Jena for his success at the Asian Games.

“Our accomplishments in Men’s Javelin at Asian Games are remarkable. The Silver also comes to India. Thanks to Kishore for winning this splendid Silver in the event. The nation cherishes the victory,” said the PM in a X (twitter) post.

Jena was in the top five in the finals of javelin throw event at World Athletics Championship at Budapest in August this year.

Subsequently, the Odisha government felicitated Jena with cash awards.
