Odisha’s Manisha Merel bags 3rd gold at KIUG 2020
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Manisha Merel added another accolade to the state’s glory by winning her third gold in the women’s long jump event at the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) in the state capital today.
Merel, who hails from Sundergarh, represented Sambalpur University at the KIUG. She bagged her third gold medal by slating a 6.22 metre jump. The young athlete was apparently suffering from an injury prior to the event. But she chose her undying spirits over the injury and aced it on the ground.
It needs mentioning that Merel earlier participated in the 15th Youth National Athletics Championship at Vadodara in 2018. With an effort of 5.38 metres, she had won a bronze medal in the championship.
