Odisha’s Millennium City soon to be under CCTV surveillance

The long-standing demands of the denizens for installation of close circuit television (CCTV) cameras in Odisha’s Cuttack will soon be a reality.

The residents of the old capital city of Odisha had been demanding for setting up of CCTV surveillance system at various landmarks in the city, in view of the increasing crime rate in the city.

“CCTVs will be installed at various points in the city at an estimated cost of Rs 1.17 crore. The project will be operational by 2017,” Twin City Commissioner of Police YB Khurania informed media today.

According to sources, a road safety audit would be conducted to identify the accident-prone sites in the city. Post this, the devices would be installed at various points.
