Odisha’s OPGC tops in PLF amongst state sector units

Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) has achieved highest annual PLF (Plant Load Factor) of 84.5% amongst all the state sector thermal power units in the country during financial year 2015-2016.

As per a report published by Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ib Thermal Power Station of OPGC achieved highest 84.5% PLF in the FY16 spanning from April 2015 to March 2016 and is followed by Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO) that achieved 78.45% PLF.

OPGC’s consistent efforts to maintain power production during the last financial year at its Ib Thermal Power Station located in Jharsuguda district helped the state meet its power requirements.

It may be mentioned here that that OPGC is expanding its capacity with a capital outlay of Rs 11,547 Crore by setting up of 2 units of power plant of 660MW capacity each at Ib Thermal Power station. These plants are currently under construction and are likely to be commissioned towards the end of the financial year 2017-18.

Currently, OPGC operates two thermal power units of 210 MW each at its Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS) in Ib Valley area of Jharsuguda district in Odisha.
