Bhubaneswar: Professor Pradosh Kumar Mishra, who hails from Odisha, has been appointed as the Head of Art History Department in Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, the varsity informed today.
Prior to this appointment, Mishra had been teaching in BHU for more than 20 years, with specialization in Modern and Contemporary art in India.
He has received the prestigious Fulbright Nehru Fellowship to teach at University of Connecticut, US in 2012. During his stay in the US, he also did a part research on the ‘Academic outreach by the American Museums’ and also lectured in various American universities in Chicago, Boston, and New York.
He has also curated significant exhibitions like Fellowship: Fulbright Alumni Artist in New Delhi, Taking Shape- a working exhibition in UConn, US; Bapu ko Karyanjali and Cosmic Geometry of Varanasi, being organized by Govt of India in collaboration with Central Lalit Kala Akademi and National Gallery of Modern Art and Banaras Hindu University.
He has conducted extensive field work and documented artists life and work by Traditional Stone carvers of Odisha and also published several articles and a book on Stone to God.
Mishra had completed his graduation in Art History from BK College of Art and Crafts, Bhubaneswar and Post Graduation from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
