Bhubaneswar: A massive cargo ship, measuring 295 metres in length and 46 metres in width, docked at Odisha’s Paradip port yesterday.
The coal laden cargo ship, MV Topeka, docked at berth CQ-1 of Paradip port in Jagatsinghpur district Tuesday evening.
This is the first occasion when a 46-metre-wide cargo ship docked at Paradip port. Earlier, the port had the record of handling a 45-metre-wide ship, sources said.
The port authorities took all necessary steps before allowing the massive ship to dock at berth CQ-1.
“Orissa Stevedores Limited is the agent of cargo ship MV Topeka while ACCEL Shipping Private Limited has been assigned the stevedoring work,” said a source.
Agarwal Coal Corporation Private Limited has imported around 89 tonne coal in the ship, sources said.
“The massive cargo ship docked at CQ-1 smoothly. The port authorities made all arrangements to avoid any difficulties in this regard,” said an official.
