Odisha’s plan expenditure goes up

Bhubaneswar, Sep 14:
The plan expenditure of the Odisha government during the current financial year has been around Rs 16,202 crore by August-end, which is 35 per cent of the budget estimate, an official said on Wednesday.

The figure for the same period of the last fiscal is Rs 12,589 crore, said the official.

The utilisation of budgetary allocations in agricultural and allied sectors has been around Rs 4,154 crore up to August. Similarly, the utilisation in infrastructure sector has gone up to around 44 per cent against a spending of 39 per cent during the last financial year, said a government release.

The expenditure in this sector has been around Rs 4,945 crore.

The social sector spending also followed the same pattern with the utilisation of around Rs 6,433 crore, which is around 32 per cent of the budget estimate.

The revenue collection from both tax and non-tax sources has been around Rs 10,622 crore, the release added.

Reviewing the progress in various sectors, Chief Secretary A.P. Padhi on Wednesday directed for augmentation of the revenue collections through one-time settlements of old pending cases to support higher expenditure in infrastructure and agricultural sectors. (IANS)
