Cuttack: Ravenshaw University, which was closed sine die on Thursday after students’ unrest, opened today a day after the agitating students called off the strike. Students are coming back to their hostel.
The University authorities took the decision after a meeting was held between Vice-Chancellor and students’ group.
Announcing the decision to lift sine die, Vice Chancellor Ishan Kumar Patro said the examinations of all departments of the university will be completed between May 17 and 20. The results of will be declared on May 27, he had added.
Notably, the university was closed sine die on Tuesday after hundreds of students staged a demonstration on the campus and gheraoed the vice chancellor’s office, protesting against fee hike and among other issues.
The agitating students under the aegis of Ravenshaw Chhatra Kriyanusthan Committee vehemently opposed the fee hike and the decision taken by the university authorities to vacate the hostels by May 28 for carrying out renovation work of the hostels.
