Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of Odisha has decided to stage demonstration before the Parliament on January 8, 2019 over the demand of hiking the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy for the farmers of the state.

Informing about it at a presser here today, Biju Krushak Janata Dal's president and Rajya Sabha member Prasanna Acharya said that MLAs, MPs, Zilla Parishad members and workers of the party will leave for New Delhi in a special train on January 6 to gherao the Parliament on January 8 and raise the demand of increasing the paddy MSP to Rs 2,930 per quintal for Odisha farmers.

The party also opposed the alleged negligence by the Centre in materialising the unanimous resolution passed by the Odisha Assembly in connection with the demand of paddy MSP hike.
