Odisha’s Sambalpur railway station declared ‘no plastic zone’

Sambalpur: The Sambalpur railway station in Odisha was today declared as ‘no plastic zone’. It became the second railway station in the country to bag the status.

On this occasion, a pledge taking ceremony was organised at the station, where officials of Sambalpur Railway Division, senior citizens and school and college students took pledge neither to use plastic/polythene on the station premises nor to allow anyone do the same.

Dr. Jaideep Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Sambalpur urged everyone to stop usage of polythene bags at the station. He also highlighted the adverse impact of plastics on the environment.
