Sambalpur: Odisha's much adorable Sambalpuri handloom products are likely to get Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

This was revealed by Textile Commissioner of India Roop Rashi during an event in Sambalpur yesterday.

Gracing a training programme on small scale business management involving veteran weavers at IIM Sambalpur campus as the chief guest, Roop Rashi said that initiative is being taken by the Ministry of Textiles to grant GI status to Sambalpuri handloom products including sarees, shawls, dress and bedsheets.

Attending the programme, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) CGM Dr. Subhransu Sekhar Acharya highlighted on the approach of his organisation for cluster development of veteran weavers of Sambalpur.
