Odisha’s Similipal National Park reopens for tourists

Baripada: The Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district reopened for tourists today. The National Park and Tiger Reserve were closed for tourists since mid-June due to monsoon season.

“Each day 35 four wheelers will be allowed into the park through Kaliapani check gate (Jashipur) and 25 through Peethabata check gate. Tourists can book their entry passes from the booking counters at these check gates between 6 am to 9 am. Tourists will be required to leave Barehipani waterfall and Joranda before 3 pm and Chahala waterfall by 4 pm. They have to leave the park by 5 pm,” Field Director, Similipal Tiger Reserve had informed.

In the event of vehicle breakdown inside the national park for some reason, authorities of Similipal Tiger Reserve will make arrangements for the return of the tourists against an advance deposit of Rs 3,000, the official added.

Notably, STR has a rich wildlife and many picturesque places to visit including Chahala, Barehipani, Jaranda, Naana, Gududia and Jamuani, which attract hundreds of visitors every year.
