Odisha’s SOA University to launch Dual B.Tech-M.Tech In Biotechnology

The Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University, considered a top destination for higher education in Odisha, will be launching a dual degree course (B.Tech-M.Tech) in Biotechnology from the 2015-16 academic session aiming to widen the career options for students.

Students will get admission into the 5-year course through SAAT-2015, the entrance test conducted by the University.

In this program, students can opt for either B.Tech (four year degree) certificate or 5-year integrated degree M.Tech course. The course curriculum of B.Tech Biotechnology program, which matches other engineering degree programs, includes subjects from basic sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics etc) and humanities (Communicative English, Managerial Skill etc) along with other engineering subjects.

B.Tech Biotechnology students, besides having the opportunity to pursue Ph.D in Biotechnology, have a wide opportunity for employment in Computer and IT industries in addition to Pharma, Chemical, Food and Agricultural establishments and other biotech industries.

Students having completed the 5-year B.Tech-M.Tech dual degree program will have additional scope to join as teachers in Universities and scientists in research organizations. They will be preferred for Ph.D program in reputed research organizations and have greater acceptability by major biotech recruiting industries like Biocon, Santa Biotech, Bharat Biotech, GVK Biosciences, Bangalore Genei, Genotypic India Pvt. Ltd., Zydus, Sun Pharma, Himalaya, Bharat Serum, Thyrocare, Kingfisher, United Breweries, Pepsi, Coca Cola, Himedia, Borosil, Tarson, Xcelris etc.

The SOA University has also developed a new curriculum, benchmarked with those of the world’s best Universities, for all courses at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), its faculty of engineering, to bring its teaching methodology at par with internationally accepted standards. It has been done in conjunction with professors from reputed international Universities and professionals from the core industry.
