Odisha’s Sona Mohapatra is in news. This time for her music

Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born singer Sona Mohapatra, who was recently trolled on social media for criticizing Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, is in news again. This time it is not for taking any stand or speaking against anyone. It is for her music.

Sona’s music video ‘The Ankahee Project’ will be exclusively released by Gaana Originals along with Times Music on September 15.

The romantic track penned by Akshay Sinde and music by Sanket Sane featuring the singer herself will also be out on Times Music YouTube channel.

This will be the second of a series of songs by Gaana Originals that will feature different 11 artists in 11 different originals within a span of 11 weeks.

The Ambarsariya singer took to Twitter to share the news about her ambitious project.

“We need original songs to voice our generation’s hopes and aspirations. This music represents our society and culture in its purest form not restricted by a fictional story or cinemascope. It is a very important expression of the times we live in,” the Mumbai-based singer stated.

The first single under ‘Gaana Originals’, ‘Tum Hardafa Ho’, composed and sung by popular Bollywood music composer and singer Ankit Tiwari has already garnered about 1 million streams in 5 days, and has got a whopping more than 2 million views on YouTube.

‘Gaana Originals’ will showcase work of singers like Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Ankit Tiwari, Neha Kakkar, Sona Mohapatra, Tony Kakkar, Millind Gaba, Sonu Kakkar, Gurnazar, Sachin Gupta and Soham.

Gaana, India’s one of the leading music streaming apps, has launched ‘Gaana Originals’ to promote independent music from artists.
