Cuttack, Dec 19:
A whopping 10,344 affidavits collected from across the state were submitted to Justice B P Das Commission of Inquiry for suggesting reforms in Sri Jagannath Temple today.
Hundreds of holy men and devotees under the aegis of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) marched in a massive rally and submitted these affidavits at the Commission’s office here, reports said.
The holy men also submitted a seven-point proposal for reforms in the temple, reports added.
Notably, tomorrow (December 20) is the last date for submission of affidavits to the Commission.
The Commission had extended its deadline for submission of affidavits twice, the last one being on December 3. The Commission had then claimed that it was extending the deadline since it had only received 350 affidavits.
It may be recalled here that the state government had announced formation of the one-man judicial commission in September after the issue of manhandling of Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal by servitors during the Niladri Bije rituals this year reached a tipping point.
