Bhubaneswar: Utkal University, Odisha's premier educational institution, touched new height in terms of quality education, research and infrastructure after being placed among top 10 state universities in India.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development announced the list yesterday during three-day National Convention on Digital Initiatives for Higher Education at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.

The Utkal University found place in top 10 list along with other nine universities such as -- Savitribai Phule Pune University, Karnataka's Tumkur University, Sikkim University, Haryana's Kurukshetra University, Kolhapur's Shivaji University, Karnataka's University of Mysore, Jharkhand's Kolhan University, Tamil Nadu's Bharathiar University and Kerala's Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrith.

The varsity, which was granted National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation earlier, is the first university of Odisha to be selected as one of the 10 best public funded state universities in India.

The varsity earned praise and found place in the list of top 10 state universities due to its developed infrastructure, study methodology and research, said University vice-chancellor Ashok Das.

Notably, the VCs of all the government and private universities are participating in the three-day long national level seminar in New Delhi.

Utkal University VC Ashok Das along with other VCs of universities placed among the top 10 state universities will make presentation on application of digitization in development of higher education, varsity's innovative projects and usage.

Worth mentioning, Utkal University is one of three state universities in India to have earned NAAC A+ status.
