Odisha’s Utkela Airport gets DGCA licence; air services soon

Bhubaneswar: The Union Government today gave the required licence to Utkela Airport in Odisha’s Kalahandi district to start flight operations.

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), in exercise of the powers under Rule 78 of the Aircraft Rules, 1937 delegated vide S.O no. 727 (E) dated 4th October, 1994, herby grants licence to the Government of Odisha for Utkela Airport, said a notification issued by the Centre today.

The licence authorizes the aerodrome to be used as regular place of landing and departure to all persons on equal terms and conditions for operation by aircraft. The licence is liable to be suspended/modified/ withdrawn/or any condition may be imposed, if any violation of the provisions of the Aircraft Act 1934, Aircraft Rules 1937 and any other orders issued under the said Act, added the notice.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik welcomed the Centre’s decision regarding Utkela Airport. “Flight operations between Bhubaneswar and Bhawanipatna will start soon. It will give an impetus to connectivity, economic activities and tourism,” said Patnaik.
