Olive Ridley hatchlings crawling towards sea enhances beauty of Astarang beach in Odisha

Kendrapara, May 31:

Thousands of Olive Ridley hatchlings crawling towards sea has turned out to be a spectacular site at Astaranga and Devi beaches in Puri district of Odisha.

According to reports, a record number of Olive Ridley turtles had laid eggs at different beaches in the district this year.

Forest department had arranged elaborate security for nesting and hatchling of the endangered sea turtles.

The forest department had also set up four artificial hatcheries with 88,000 eggs to hatch.

Around 84,000 baby turtles have taken birth out of the stored eggs after 50 days and have started their seaward journey.
