Ollywood actress Anu Choudhury lodges plaint against web portal; Know why

Bhubaneswar: Popular Ollywood actress Anu Choudhury today lodged a police complaint against a web portal for circulating fake news regarding her heath status.

The web portal had allegedly circulated news claiming that the popular Odia film actress has been diagnosed with cancer and she has been admitted to a hospital. The portal has also embedded a photo of the actress to the news post, sources said.

The actress today lodged a complaint with the Cyber Police Station in the capital city here and sought stern action against the web portal.

“One of my well-wishers from Puri informed me about the fake news regarding my health condition. Soon I lodged a complaint in this regard with Cyber police. This exposes the cheep mentalities of the people involved in the circulation of the fake news,” Choudhury said.

The actress further alleged that some web portals have been circulating fake news on her and several Odia film actors to draw viewers.

“Some people have been doing this since long. They try to draw viewers to their web portals by circulating fake news on actors and other eminent personalities. The police should take appropriate action in this regard. People should not follow unethical means to get monetary benefits,” said the actress.

The Cyber police have launched a probe into the incident, sources said.
