Bhubaneswar: Ollywood producer Sanlisa Patel today staged a dharna at the Lower PMG here seeking support towards the Odia film industry.
Staging a sit-in for indefinite period, Sanlisa urged the Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC) and the State Government to fulfill five demands.
Her demands are establishment of one cinema hall in each block, compulsory screening of Odia films in cinema halls and multiplexes, facilitating the receiving of money for producers after distribution and exhibition of films, waiving of tax on Odia films and financial assistance towards filmmaking, and help from the government towards investors interested in making Odia films.
"I had earlier apprised the concerned authorities at government-level regarding the issues. As no step was taken in this regard, I decided to stage a dharna to press my demands," said Sanlisa.
"Various producers, actors, technicians and directors will join the dharna from tomorrow," she added.
On the first day of the dharna, popular Ollywood actor Buddhaditya Mohanty was seen extending support to her as he sat at the spot holding placard.
