The samples of the infected persons have been sent for genome sequencing to ascertain the variant of COVID-19.

The two have been kept under isolation, as per COVID-19 protocols.

On the other hand, Public Health Director Dr. Niranjan Mishra today said the 3rd wave of COVID-19 seems imminent.

Mishra further said that the Odisha Government is capable of tackling the 3rd wave, if such situation arises.

More than 1500 persons from ‘at risk’ countries have come to Odisha, so far. There are plans to increase the number of samples being sent for genome sequencing, he said while speaking to media persons.

Odisha has sufficient infrastructure and healthcare facility to handle such situation, he added.
