On BJD’s 25th anniversary, Naveen Patnaik targets to reduce Odisha’s poverty to 10%

Bhubaneswar: During his address to party workers, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik stated his government has targeted to reduce poverty in the State to 10% in next five years.

While addressing BJD workers on the 25th anniversary of the party on a virtual platform today, Patnaik informed his government has been able to bring 80 lakh people of the State above poverty line. Poverty reduction in the State has come down from 63% in 2000 to 29% in 2021.

In order boost morale of party workers, Patnaik described them as the backbone of the party. Also, he said people are as BJD’s boss.

He also mentioned in the address how disaster management of his government has received international recognition including the United Nations.

The Biju Janata Dal was founded by Naveen Patnaik, son of former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, on December 26, 1997.
