On eve of Bahuda Jatra, Nabami Sandhya Darshan timing to be curtailed

Bhubaneswar: Devotees will not be allowed to enter Srigundicha temple in Odisha’s Puri city to pay obeisance to Lord Jagannath and his siblings at Adapa Mandap after 5 pm on June 27.

“The Nabami Sandhya Darshan at Srigundicha temple will be stopped at 5 pm on June 27 to facilitate preparation for deities’ Bahuda Jatra (Return Car Festival), scheduled to be held at June 28,” said Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Ranjan Kumar Das today.

The devotees will be allowed to have darshan of the deities at Adapa Mandap from 7 am to 5pm of June 27, he added.

Notably, the deities had embarked upon their annual journey to Srigundicha temple from Srimandir by riding their majestic chariots on the Grand Road on the occasion of Ratha Jatra on June 20.

Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Balabhadra reached Srigundicha temple on the same day. However, Darpadalan chariot of Devi Subhadra and Nandighosa chariot of Lord Jagannath were halted midway.

The two chariots were pulled to Srigundicha temple on June 21.

The deities were taken to the Adapa Mandap of Srigundicha temple from their respective chariots at Saradhabali in Puri on June 22.
