Food consumption near stalls banned in Odisha’s Cuttack city

Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has prohibited the consumption of edible items near food stalls and roadside eateries in the city in a bid to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The vendors/sellers have been asked by the CMC to provide takeaway service only.

“It is observed in the Cuttack city that street vendors are selling out various edible items for on the spot consumption and the majority of them are using common reusable plates and spoons for the above purpose. Apart from that, due to food consumption on the spot, it is noticed that public gathering without social distancing is taking place,” the CMC said in a notice.

“Keeping in view the above and in order to contain the chances of spread of COVID-19 in Cuttack city, it is hereby ordered that all the street vendors shall do away the practice of on the spot food consumption and adopt the practice of takeaway/parcel facility only while selling their product,” the notice read.
