According to reports, Berhampur Town Police arrested Krushna Chandra Sahani alias Babula from Icchapur in Andhra Pradesh for his alleged involvement in land grab.

A case under Section 386, 387 and 34 has been registered against Sahani, the owner of Nandighosh Builders.

Earlier, a case was registered under sections 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) and 387 (extortion of money) of the Indian Penal Code against him for allegedly compelling a land owner to sell a plot at a price lower than the market value. However, he along with other builders did not pay a single pie to the land owner. The matter came to light after Jena’s arrest.

On the other hand, police have converted a case registered against Jena under Section 307 to 302. A case of attempt to murder was slapped against Jena and his aides for murderous assault on one Arjun Das alias MLA. Arjun died yesterday after battling for life in coma in a hospital.

The case has been converted to murder case after the death of the person, Berhampur SDPO informed.
