One dead, another critical as truck mows down motorbike in Odisha

Kalahandi: In a tragic incident, a road mishap between a truck and a motorbike rendered one dead and another critical on Turkel bridge of NH-16 under Bhawanipatna Sadar police limits, here today.

The deceased motorbike rider has been identified as Madan Behera, a resident of Turekela village of Bolangir district. The critically injured pillion rider is Anirudh Meher of Bhalumunda village.

According to reports, Madan was riding his motorbike with Anirudh as pillion, on the Turkel bridge this afternoon when a speeding truck crushed them from behind.

While Madan died on the spot, Anirudh’s right leg was cut-off in the impact. He was taken to Bhawanipatna District Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition.

Karlapada police has seized the truck, detained the drive and launched a probe into the accident.
