Unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants on Tuesday opened fire at a road contractor’s supervisor at Ghodansa village under Naugaon area in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district following which he sustained bullet injuries.

GUN BLOODThe supervisor identified as Subhasis Roy was rushed to district headquarters hospital here and then shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack for treatment.

Roy, hailing from Andhoti village under Salijanga panchayat in Jagatsinghpur block, was working as supervisor for a contractor who was awarded the tender for construction of roads under PMGSY at Ghodansa village.

The incident happened when Roy was overseeing the work at the site this afternoon. Two bike-borne miscreants inquired about the contractor and tried to extort money from the said employee. When he refused to divulge the whereabouts of his boss and refused to shell out money, the infuriated goons opened fired at him and fled the scene.

The bleeding supervisor was rushed to the district headquarters hospital and later to SCB Medical College and Hospital in the evening.

Meanwhile, a search has been launched to nab the culprits.
