In a shocking incident, an elephant dragged a person out from his home with its trunk while he was asleep last night and banged him to death in Jharsuguda district of Odisha.

The deceased has been identified as Tikeswar Biswal of Singarpur village under Belpahar forest range in the district.

Tension erupted in the village this morning following death of Tikeswar and irate people blocked NH 49 disrupting vehicular movement demanding compensation to the victim’s family.

Forest officials and police arrived at the spot and took the situation under control after convincing the protesters.
