One-month-old baby branded with hot iron in Odisha

Baripada: Superstitious practice for curing ailments continues unabated in Odisha as an one-month-old baby girl was allegedly branded with hot iron by her uncle at Tikarpada village under Khunta police limits in Mayurbhanj district.

According to reports, the infant had developed stomach ache while her uncle branded the baby with hot iron as an effort for cure.

Condition of the baby girl deteriorated after the incident, following which her family members admitted her to the Udala Hospital on Wednesday. Her condition was stated to be stable after treatment.
