One more doctor loses battle to COVID-19 in Odisha

Rourkela: One more doctor in Odisha’s Sundargarh district lost his life after battling with the deadly Coronavirus. The Corona Warrior, who was serving at Lathikata Primary Health Centre (PHC), died while undergoing treatment at KIMS Hospital in Bhubaneswar at 2.30 AM today.

As per reports, Medical Officer Rahas Bihari Mohapatra was tested positive for the virus on August 3 and immediately admitted to Hi-Tech COVID Hospital here. However, he was shifted to KIMS Hospital after his condition deteriorated.

The doctor was staying with his wife at Utkal Nagar in Fertilizer Township of Sector-22 here while his children reside in New Zealand.

After his death, wife Manju, who is also reportedly sick and being treated here, has appealed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to make arrangements to send his body to Rourkela.

“My husband was COVID Warrior and Odisha Government should help us in this hour of distress,” she said in her appeal.

Last week, a 60-year-old doctor of Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) succumbed to the decease while undergoing treatment at Hi-Tech COVID Hospital. The Corona Warrior, Dr Arun Kumar Das, was given guard of honour by the local police.
