One more teacher suspended for violating model code of conduct in Odisha

Boudh: One more schoolteacher was suspended in Odisha for allegedly violating the model code of conduct enforced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the ensuing elections to Lok Sabha and Assembly.

Rahiteswa Mallick, the Assistant Teacher at Baulasinga Govt Primary School under Dapala Gram Panchayat in Boudh district, was placed under suspension for attending a political party meeting.

According to reports, Mallick was present at a Congress party meeting called on April 15 for the selection of a party candidate for Kantamal Assembly Constituency. Congress leader Amir Chand Nayak, who is the party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Kandhamal attended the meeting.

A video showing Mallick at the meeting was circulated through the internet following which the Boudh District Collector took disciplinary action against the erring junior teacher.

Recently, disciplinary action was taken against two teachers in the district in connection with model code of conduct violation allegations. While Boudh Collector suspended a woman teacher at Government Nodal High School, Dahya, for participating in an election rally in Kantamal Assembly Constituency last week, a teacher at Tribal High School in Kantamal constituency was transferred to Mathura Panchayat High School this week.
