Bhubaneswar: Even as the suspense continues over the new Odisha CM, BJP's newly elected MP from Kandhamal hinted about the new chief minister, who will be selected among elected BJP MLAs in Assembly polls.
The new chief minister will be decided among the MLAs elected in the recently concluded Assembly polls in Odisha, said Kandhamal Lok Sabha Member Sukanta Kumar Panigrahi, who returned to Odisha after attending PM Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony in New Delhi yesterday evening.
After landing at Bhubaneswar airport today, the newly elected Lok Sabha MP received a warm welcome from his party members at the airport. On this occasion, he said that the party had already chosen a leader for the post of Chief Minister of the state.
Denying a possible bye-election, Panigrahi said, "There is no chance for conducting any bypoll because one of the newly elected MLAs will be the chief minister in Odisha," adding "Each member of the party is a chief minister face."
Reacting to question on new CM of Odisha, Suresh Pujari, the newly elected MLA from Brajarajnagar Assembly seat in Jharsuguda district, after reaching Bhubaneswar airport said that senior party leaders Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Yadav have been assigned to select CM of Odisha.
"Both the central leaders of the party are scheduled to attend the BJP's legislature party meeting in Bhubaneswar tomorrow. The CM's name will be announced at the meeting," Pujari, who is in the CM's race, said.
