One schoolteacher to monitor 1,000 people for COVID activities in this Odisha district

Bhubaneswar: To ensure smooth conduct of COVID-19 surveillance and vaccination activities in Bargarh district, the district Collector has directed the District Education Officer (DEO) to assign duty to schoolteacher for surveillance and vaccination activities in the district.

As per the order, one teacher will be allotted duty in an area with 1,000 population. They will visit door-to-door in the village and interact with family members on daily basis. They will collect information in a prescribed format.

During their door-to-door visit, the schoolteacher will identify influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and ensure COVID testing in nearest centre through follow up. They have also been asked to be in touch with those infected with the virus, collect feedback from them on their health status and supply the necessary kit.

Th teachers will also make sure that those not fully vaccinated take the second dose in the nearest vaccination centre in consultation with health supervisor of that area.
