Bhubaneswar, Aug 28:

A centralised online admission process for all vocational colleges in Odisha would begin from the next academic session.

In a letter, the joint secretary, Higher Education, Ajay Kumar Nayak, has asked the general manager, Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), to submit a report by September 15 about the feasibility and financial implications of extending online admissions to all the vocational colleges.

As decided, 140 out of a total of 200 Sanskrit colleges that offer undergraduate courses will be included in the centralised online admission system in the first phase.

The state has 231 government junior vocational colleges, of which 141 colleges are under the Bhubaneswar circle, 37 under Berhampur circle and 53 under Sambalpur circle under the jurisdiction of the Directorate of Vocational Education.

At present, admission to state vocational colleges are being done through Common Application Forms (CAFs), which applicants have to fill in and submit.

The Higher Education department has, so far, included Sanskrit colleges including the Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya in Puri, in the e-admission process.

Sources said that OCAC is yet to submit a report on extending centralised e-admission process to Sanskrit colleges.
