Operation at HAL Odisha unit hit following staff strike

Jeypore: Operation at Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) Sunabeda unit in Korapur district has been halted after its employees joined the indefinite stir by All India HAL Trade Union over wage revision.

As part of the protest, hundreds of employees of the HAL Sunabeda unit sat on a dharna in front of its main gate. Biju Aeronautics Employees Union has extended its support to the strike.

On September 30, the trade union had served a notice to launch the nationwide strike to press for their long-standing demands, including wage revision retrospectively since January 1, 2017.  Accordingly, over 20,000 employees of all the nine units of the aerospace major have joined the protest.

The nine units include 5 production complexes in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Koraput in Odisha, Lucknow and Nashik in Maharashtra and 4 research and development (R&D) centres across the country.
