Operation White Spider: 2 held with brown sugar worth Rs 27 lakh in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: As part of its drive against drug smugglers, the Commissionerate Police (CP) today seized brown sugar worth around Rs 27 lakh from Hi-tech Square here and arrested two persons in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Mancheswar police and Quick Action Team (QAT) conducted a crackdown and later arrested the drug peddlers on recovering 273 gram brown sugar from their possession.

So far, the CP has seized 2.038 kg brown sugar and arrested 38 persons ever since its special anti-drug enforcement drive White Spider was launched in August this year.

While launching the drive, the CP had issued a dedicated WhatsApp number–7077798111 to receive information on drug peddlers from the public.
