Orange alert for hail, Yellow alert for thunderstorm & lightning in Odisha districts during next 2 days

Bhubaneswar: With South to South-Westerly wind prevailing at lower level over the State, hailstorm, thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over some districts of Odisha during the next 48 hours.

This was forecasted by India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre today.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Maximum temperatures observed marked rise at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, appreciable rise at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly above normal at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, appreciably above normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

Temperature forecast: No large change in Maximum temperature during next 24 hours and fall by 2-4°C in subsequent two days and no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.

The highest maximum (day) temperature of 43.5°C was recorded at Bhubaneswar. The lowest minimum (night) temperature of 21.3°C was recorded at Rourkela in the plains of Odisha.

For Saturday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 07.04.2024)

Light rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Nayagarh, Bolangir, Malkangiri, Bhadrak, Gajapati and Boudh.

Warm night condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Malkangiri.

Hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Khurda and Puri.

For Sunday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.04.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha.

Orange Warning: (Be Prepared)-

Hailstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Cuttack.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Khurda, Boudh, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh and Nayagarh.
