Orange alert: thunderstorm, lightning, hail very likely in Odisha districts during next 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: With the cyclonic circulation over Odisha and neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level becoming less marked, thunderstorm with lightning and hail accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over some districts of Odisha during next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted today.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Maximum temperatures observed no large change over the districts of Odisha. They were appreciably above normal at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

Temperature forecast: No large change in maximum temperature during next four to five days at many places over the districts of Odisha. Minimum temperature is likely to rise by 2°C to 3°C during next four to five days at many places over the districts of Odisha.

The highest maximum (day) temperature of 40.0°C was recorded at Nayagarh, Bolangir, Bhawanipatna, Titilagarh and Boudh and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 22.0°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

For Saturday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 31.03.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sundargarh and at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Orange Warning: (Be Prepared)-

Thunderstorm with lightning and hail accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sundargarh.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

For Sunday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 31.03.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.04.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
