Orange alert: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely in Odisha districts till May 9

Bhubaneswar: With prevalent trough from northeast Bihar to north Odisha becoming less marked, thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over several Odisha districts till May 9. The IMD regional centre in Bhubaneswar today issued Orange alert for these four days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Maximum temperatures observed marked rise at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha and South Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly above normal at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably above normal at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

Temperature forecast: Maximum (day) temperature very likely to fall by 4°C to 6°C during next three to four days and no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha. The highest maximum (day) temperature of 45.0°C was recorded yesterday at Titilagarh and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 23.2°C was recorded at Sundergarh in the plains of Odisha.

For Monday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 07.05.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Orange Warning: (Be Prepared)-

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH and hailstorm is very likely to occur over the districts of Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Puri.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur.

For Tuesday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.05.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 08.05.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur over the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Koraput.
