Orange warning! Heavy rainfall to lash several Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued yellow and orange warning for several districts across the state till May 8 in view of low pressure area formed over south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal and associated cyclonic circulation extending upto mid-tropospheric levels.

The MeT Centre issued Orange Warning indicating heavy rainfall and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Balasore,  Bhadrak,  Dhenkanal district till 8:30 am tomorrow.

The weathermen also issued Yellow Warning indicating thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph for Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Angul,  Kandhamal and Boudh districts.

From 8.30 AM, May 5 till 8.30 AM May 6, the MeT issued Orange Warning indicating thunderstorm and lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal and heavy rainfall for Sonepur, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar districts.

Besides, Yellow Warning indicating thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph over the rest of Odisha.

From 8.30 AM, May 6 till 8.30 AM May 7, the weathermen issued Yellow Warning indicating thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph for Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir and Mayurbhanj districts.

From 8.30 AM, May 7 till 8.30 AM May 8, Yellow Warning indicating thunderstorm with lightning for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kandhamal
