Orange Warning issued for Odisha districts as depression likely to form over Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar: A depression is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal and trigger heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted.

“A Low Pressure Area is likely to form over Westcentral & adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts during the next 24 hours,” the IMD said.

“The system is likely to concentrate into a Depression over the same region around 26th July. Subsequently, it is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards across north Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coasts,” the IMD added.

The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued heavy rainfall warning (Orange Warning) for several districts of Odisha in view of the system.

Below is day-wise forecast.

July 25: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj (Yellow Warning).

July 26: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Bolangir (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Boudh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Bargarh (Yellow Warning).

July 27: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul and Keonjhar (Yellow Warning).

July 28: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak (Yellow Warning).
