Orissa HC stays all cases against Sarathi baba, Satyam in lower courts

Orissa High Court ordered an interim stay in the adjudication of  all ongoing cases concerning Santosh Kumar Raul, Satyam and other accused  in lower courts.

Admitting a petition filed by Satyam challenging the cognizance order of the lower court in the main case registered against them by the  Crime Branch, the single member bench of Justice Shatrughan Pujahari ordered the government to submit the case diary and related papers to the High Court.

The bench further issued an interim stay on all cases under adjudication in the special court.

Notably, self-styled godman Sarathi Baba and his son have been was arrested  under various charges like Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery with the purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine forged document), 341 (wrongful confinement) 506 (criminal intimidation), 379 (theft) of the IPC and  SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act section 3 (offences of atrocities against the members of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes), which is being heard in an special court.

The accused in these cases along with Sarathi Baba and his son Satyam are Santosh Gachayat, Palasik Swain, Biswajit Patnaik, Harish Chandra Das.
