Orissa High Court annuls election of Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mohammed Moquim

Cuttack: In a major jolt to Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mohammed Moquim, the Orissa High Court today annulled the election of the legislator.

The court’s move came while hearing a petition filed by BJD leader Debashish Samantaray, who had challenged the election of Moquim alleging that the MLA suppressed facts with respect to the criminal cases pending against him while filing his nomination papers.

Samantaray had further alleged in the petition that Moquim did not disclose correct facts about his assets and liabilities.

Worth mentioning, Samantaray had lost to Moquim in the Cuttack-Barabati assembly constituency in the 2019 polls.
