Bhubaneswar: Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court in Cuttack.

President Droupadi Murmu appointed Justice Singh, a judge at Patna High Court, as the new Chief Justice of Orissa HC after due consultation with the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, said a notification issued by the Centre today.

A collegium of the Supreme Court of India had recommend the name of Justice Singh for appointment as the Chief Justice of Orissa HC in November last year.

Justice Subhasis Talapatra had retired as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court on October 3, 2023.

Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi is now the Acting Chief Justice of Orissa High Court in Cuttack.

Justice Singh has been functioning as a judge at Patna High Court since 2012.

Prior to his elevation as a judge, he had practiced as a lawyer at Patna High Court for around 22 years. He had also served as the Additional Advocate General of Bihar.
