Oscars 2021: ‘Kalira Atita’ out of the race

Bhubaneswar: Odia movie ‘Kalira Atita’, directed by Nila Madhab Panda, is out of the race for Oscars 2021.

In a social media message, Panda today stated ‘Kalira Atita’ is out of the Oscar nomination race. But Panda mentioned he would continue to talk on climate issues through the movie.

He also congratulated the nominees and wished them luck.

The movie, starring Pitobash Tripathy, revolves around a young man from Satavaya village in Odisha’s Kendrapara district who returns to his village to find devastation caused by climate change.

The character Gunu, the protagonist essayed by Pitobash, symbolises the struggle of innumerable hapless villagers who were at the receiving end of nature’s fury.
