OSIC to promote two major brands in Odisha

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department has roped in Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) for marketing two of its major brands such as Odi-Food (for food items) and Odi-Tech (for non-food items).

Launching of Odi-tech- Agrcultural Implements-3The OSIC on Wednesday launched the Odi-Tech series the brand promotion of non food products manufactured by the MSME Enterprises and the first products to be included in the series is Agricultural products are power thresher cum-winnower, pedal thresher, cono weeder and heavy soil.

The Odi-Food series has already been launched by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the MSME Trade Fair -2015. The double fortified salt is the first item to be launched in the Odi-Food series.

OSIC will market these MSME products in the state as well as outside the state including exports to other countries.

Though MSMEs continue to manufacture high quality products, lack of proper platform to promote them leads to lackluster performance in national and international market. By taking the initiative of brand building and marketing of MSME products through OSIC, the MSME department intends to take long-term policy initiative to encourage small scale industry in the state.

Sources in MSME department, OSIC is in loop with various industrial associations of the state to shortlist the products that will be brought under brand marketing in the future.

Besides, OSIC also has proposed to include cashew products, turmeric powder, chili powder and rice produced by tribals of KBK districts; which are popular in the national and international market but the farmers producing these products never get their due because of their inability to market their products in a organized manner.
